The Inevitable… Getting Older
In case you have not heard, I had a birthday last weekend. It was a great day complete with breakfast made by my kids, cake for breakfast-dessert, shopping, extreme sugary coffee drinks, dinner at my moms and chocolate pie. What more could a girl ask for? I also got some cool new workout clothes… yes, I needed them!
So I am 39 now and I started to think about turning 40 next year and how aging will affect my workouts. The WODS we do at CPM are hard, no doubt about that. So is there an age limit at our gym? I have been asked more than once by someone in their mid-60s about CPM. I have to be honest when I tell you that in my head I am thinking “how would they do our workouts?” However, any of you that have had an injury while you were at member at CPM know that we always have options to scale workouts with less weight, different movements, etc. So I, personally, do not feel we have an age limit for clients. Now am I going to ask my parents in their mid-70s to join? Probably not.
But at what point do I start slowing down? Right now I feel like I could speed up. The movements are only getting better as I increase my mobility. It is possible that I will continue to see progress simply because I neglected my body for the past 20 years and never stretched up until this point? That’s my hope. I feel like I still have a lot to learn, a lot to improve and a lot to give at CPM. I think 39 is going to be FABULOUS!
