Habits in Your Mind – Part 2

Last week, we dug into habits.  I presented the idea of the habit loop, and we explored the process.

Recall the Habit Loop

We pick up a cue, our minds execute a routine, and we get a reward.  That’s the idea.  Habits seem to be straight forward enough.  But as with most things that seem obvious, there’s a hidden secret to making the process work.

Procter and Gamble (P&G) knows a few things about anticipation.  They study it, as do other large corporations, specifically to sell us more or better products.  Actually they invent products we didn’t even know we wanted, but that […] Read more

A Wonderful Yoga Weekend ….

This past weekend I attended a yoga teacher training in Chicago. They had 6 of the top trainers in the US come and teach us different types of yoga, sequencing, movement, Acro, Kirtan, etc …

I went into this not really knowing what to expect but just wanting to learn, grow, get outside my box and see new types of yoga for my practice and for my students.

I went by myself with open arms trying to embrace everything I could to really grow from this experience. I have only myself been practicing yoga for 4 years and wanted to up my […] Read more

How to Get Lucky??

Whenever I hear someone say,

“They are so lucky”.
“Some people have all the luck”.

I stop and wonder… Are they really lucky? Or does it have to do with more than luck why some people get what they want.

Then I came across a quote from Richard Branson:

“I have not been any more lucky or unlucky than anyone else. The difference is when luck came my way, I took advantage of it.”

Then there is the old adage we hear, “Luck is when opportunity meets preparation.”

What I have found is you have the power to make and create your luck. Here is how…

A “Go To” Grocery List

Since you are on the home stretch on the DYP challenge, I thought this blog would help you to stay on track for the remaining 335 days of the year. I feel so many people don’t even know where to begin when they walk into their local grocery store. There are distracting smells, colors, bright lights, etc …

Leading down dangerous aisles where your will power is over taken by the smells, and colors appealing to the eye.

Here are some great choices to stay on track that I really enjoy for each category!

Favorite Veggies: I really LOVE Brussel Sprouts and Broccoli! […] Read more

We Are Our Habits – Part 1

When You Got Out of Bed This Morning

What did you do?  Do you remember?  I put my clothes on that I’d laid out last night, brushed my teeth, and headed to CPM to coach some smiling early AMers.  I do this most mornings.  In fact, I’ve done it enough that I don’t think about it while I’m doing it.

This is a habit.  Its the routine I have and I do it often enough that it’s engrained deep in my brain.  I like to think that all the choices and decisions I make on a daily basis are well thought out, […] Read more

Get Some Yoga In Your Life …

This past weekend we completed our final days of the CPM yoga teacher training. It was so great to watch these women come from being nervous about teaching a pose to teaching a full hour class to students all on their own.

It was great to hear how each one of them wanted to teach or learn more about yoga for many different purposes. Some wanted to teach kids, others wanted to help co-workers, some wanted to learn more about their practice, and some were not sure where they wanted to take it.

Throughout the last few weeks the common theme was […] Read more

How to Increase Confidence?

How would you define ‘Confidence’? What comes to your mind?

If you were to google ‘Confidence’ this is what you would find…

A. The feeling or belief that one can rely on someone or something; firm trust.
B. The state of feeling certain about the truth of something.
C. A feeling of self-assurance arising from one’s appreciation of one’s own abilities or qualities.

I like to define ‘Confidence’ as an internal knowing and the ammunition to conquer the world.

Life is pretty simple. Definitely not easy, but simple. The people with the most confidence will always WIN in life.

I know as a coach when […] Read more
