True or False Comparison??

True or False Comparison??

Now that Friday Night Lights is in full swing; I’d like to bring back a topic I wrote about back in 2011 (LINK) that may help you now or later due to the heightened heat of the FNL competition….

In your FITness, Career and the other important areas of your life it is easy to compare what you want to what others have…

The FIT dude says…

“I wish I could do as many ____ as he/she can!”
“Why can’t I go as fast in the ____as he/she can?!”

Also, in life and career:

“I want to be rich and famous”
“Why can’t I catch a […] Read more

What Traditions Do You Love CPM?

What Traditions Do You Love CPM?

Since I can remember my mom and I have always made the Oscars a fun fabulous party in our home. We would dress up, pick our winners, and make wonderful hors d’oeuvre’s and Oscar themed treats.

It has been a tradition that has never been missed, and year after year we have incorporated it and include friends, family, husbands/wives etc …

The past three years I have not been able to be with my mom or my sister on this honorary day, but this year I got the honor of getting to go back to Los Angeles to celebrate!!!

This year topped the […] Read more

Even if you aren’t participating in Friday Night Lights at CPM, I want to encourage you to check out the Crossfit Open Announcements on Thursday evenings. They are extremely motivating and fun to watch. Click HERE to get the info you need.

Are You A Cherry Picker?

I bet you’ve done it at least once… you’ve skipped the gym because you didn’t like the workout. Am I right? We have members who don’t like to run, don’t like to lift, don’t like to workout (ha!) and, on occasion, it leads to them skipping a workout. Personally, I don’t cherry pick […] Read more

Why “Friday Night Lights”??

Why “Friday Night Lights”??

With our Friday Night Lights starting in a few days something very good or something very bad can happen to you…

You can become motivated beyond what you ever thought possible.

–OR–

You can fall into the Bermuda triangle of COMPARING yourself to others, their scores, begin to question your training and success you have had thus far. Falling victim to self sabotaging yourself.

Friday Night Lights is a way to provide context to your training and gives you purpose behind everything you have been working for in the gym day in and day out.

GOOD COMPETITION

Competition can bring out the best in you. I fully believe that you can […] Read more

CPM How Badly Do You Want It?

CPM How Badly Do You Want It?

Some video’s just speak to me. They shake something loose inside of me and really wake me up; hitting me in the face like a ton of bricks.

What are you willing to sacrifice to get what you want and go after your passion with full force?

People say they want to be successful, but are you willing to do whatever it takes to make it happen? Successful people are in that place because they are willing to do what the average person doesn’t want to do day in and day out.
My favorite line of this video is by a guy […] Read more

Your Other Valentine…. The Gym Buddy

Your Other Valentine…. The Gym Buddy

Your Gym Buddy

Valentine’s Day is over but I wanted to reflect on another reason we love to go to the gym…. our gym buddies. Friends are often the reason you start a gym and continue to go to the gym day after day. I’ve had several gym BFF’s throughout my life. Here’s a few:

Angie – My long-time friend and running partner. I can’t begin to imagine the number of miles we have logged together. It is A LOT! I would NEVER run a 50 mile race without a partner and I think I would do it again if Angie ran it with […] Read more

A CPM Love Story ….

A CPM Love Story ….

Over the past fifteen years Chris and I have owned and/or worked at a gym,(it’s actually where we met and feel in love). We realized the importance of loving what you do. Not only the importance it had on us, but the importance it had on our clients as well.

When I was stuck at a job that I was not passionate about, I lacked the “love” because I wasn’t utilizing my talents, and my heart was just not in it.

When I found my true path at our gym CPMFITness. I began to see the true meaning of “loving” […] Read more

This Birthday Madness & I Have Another Food Allergy

This Birthday Madness & I Have Another Food Allergy

My Birthday

First of all, I have to address this birthday madness that has been started by one of my friends. Apparently she thinks I need a gift every day leading up to my 40th birthday. Don’t get me wrong, this is awesome and amazing (just like my friend, the planner) but I feel very guilty having people bring me gifts. Actually uncomfortable may be more of the word. But since this is happening, I figure I just as well give you an idea of what I would like. I tried to create a Target registry with the items shown below […] Read more

Tune Out the Noise and Focus on the “Game” CPM ….

Super Bowl Sunday LI took place Sunday night, between the Atlanta Falcons and the New England Patriots. Both teams have put in a lot of hard work and dedication to get to this final game.

With the weeks prior leading up to this event, there has been so much “noise” about the New England patriots; especially Tom Brady. (I know we have all heard it and are so over it). The media, late night talk shows, newspapers, sports shows are all capitalizing on tension between the commissioner, coach, TB, deflate gate 2.0 etc .. Through all the “noise” there was little […] Read more

Be in the Know…

Be in the Know…

KNOWLEDGE IS POWER!

Why???

To the degree that you actually KNOW what you do (with your nutrition) that creates the situation that makes you consistent and creates long term pattern of behavior. Is to the degree that you will prosper your nutrition.

To the degree that you don’t know about nutrition you will never be able to make it consistent and healthy living a lifestyle.

When you KNOW what you’re doing. You will quit making excuses of why you didn’t follow through with your nutritional goals. And you will start to FULLY understand what you are doing (well and poorly) and why you are […] Read more

Last week I gave you some great tips for those hips, and now that your hips are feeling great it’s time to work on the shoulders.

For people who sit a long time at work, the shoulders and rotators become tight, and can cause weakness. This combination negatively affects our posture and can cause neck issues too. With Proper shoulder stretches you can maintain proper posture, and the stability in our backs (low back especially). Here are some great stretches to take with you anywhere you go so you can feel great and your posture will look even better!
