Friend or Foe

Misery Loves Company

Do you have friends or family members with bad habits? We all do. Drinking, unhealthy eating, gambling, smoking, not sleeping. I have some bad habits myself such as overindulging in sweets from time to time. It happens. I move on.

So when you choose to partake in one of your bad habits, do you try to rope others into doing it with you? I’m eating cake so you should eat cake too. Or I’m having a smoke so you should too. Why do we feel the need to have people that we love do something bad with us? If […] Read more

What is the best time of the day to workout?

What is the best time of the day to workout?

While some people are up at the crack of dawn to lace up their running shoes, others can’t fathom a workout before noon. Finding the perfect time to exercise is as much about personal preference as it is physiology. Exercise is supposed to feel good—but if muscles are tight in the morning or working out too late disrupts sleep, it can feel counterproductive.

Over the years I have shifted from working out after school, late nights at the globo gym, early mornings to now my lunch time.

The first rule of success with your workouts is be consistent i.e. #get2thegym. If […] Read more

CPM Sit Back, Relax, and Enjoy the Ride …

This week I have had the pleasure of being able to go to the lake and finish my second cookbook. This is the first time since we have opened our gym that I will take 10 days away. I am what my husband likes to call me a “freight train”. I like to go balls to the wall, never sitting, no quiet, always go go go.

This is the first time I am going to be completely by myself with no set schedule, no classes or clients to train, and not hands on in my business day to day and even […] Read more

Change Your Word(s) = Failure

Change Your Word(s) = Failure

Today is another episode of “Change Your Word(s) Series…

The way we think and speak are vital to how we feel and perform. Words are very very powerful. They can be used to your advantage or they can hold you back and stress you out!

We all have emotional attachments to words. Some people view a certain word different than others. Sometimes when I am in a conversion with someone and I hear them say a certain word, I ask them to define what they mean by it. Not because I don’t know what it means, but because I want to know […] Read more

The Benefits of Collagen @ CPMFITness …

The Benefits of Collagen @ CPMFITness …

First off what is collagen and what exactly does it do?

Collagen is a gelatinous substance found in the connective tissues—our bones, skin, ligaments, and tendons. Collagen is packed with beneficial amino acids and is a complete protein, which is why people often rave about its benefits when it comes to strengthening skin, hair, and nails.

Collagen is also an amazing way to restore gut health. “For the same reasons collagen helps repair and grow muscle tissue, it serves as an excellent nutrient source for rebuilding the rapidly dividing cells that line the interior of the gut.

So How can it help […] Read more

Maybe because it…

*Makes you more agile
*Helps you recover from your workouts + athletic activities faster
*How about improves your performance.
*And you feel better and impacts your quality of life.

As mentioned in last week’s POST, we live in a modern world full of desk work, desktop’ing too much, smart phones and remote controls. Our shoulders crave complexity and are designed to move, move often and in many different motions. If you are using them you are losing them. And that my friends will age you faster and faster not to mention take you more and more away from fun and daily […] Read more

CPM… So Much More Than a Gym

CPM… So Much More Than a Gym

Gym Friends

Have you ever heard someone refer to your gym as a cult? I used to think that about gyms. I had friends who obsessed over their gym! If you went to dinner with 2 people from the same gym and you didn’t belong, get ready to feel left out! I didn’t really understand it… until now. The longer you are a member at a gym, the more you get to know the other members and the more time you spend with them. Sometimes you even start to act and behave like them. I find myself saying “legit” or “sick” now…. […] Read more

The Mod Squad – Triangle

The Mod Squad – Triangle

One of my favorite yoga poses!

Triangle is amazing pose to get an amazing stretch.  It is a great pose to work in to your practice everyday.

Triangle Tips:

1. Triangle is the perfect pose to experiment with props.  A block, a chair, even your own body (just move the hand further up your leg) can help you get the most out of this pose.

2. Try to keep your chest and shoulders open and reach that top hand nice and tall.  It can be easy to let our open shoulder collapse and to round the upper back and defeat the purpose of the pose […] Read more

Are you Mobile enough? #shoulderExtension

Are you Mobile enough? #shoulderExtension

Try this right now…

Sit down on the floor and place your arms behind you. With your palms down and pinky fingers touching, lower your shoulders as close to the ground as possible.

A little tight?

That is because shoulder extension is a range of motion trained by very few people in the fitness arena. Many programs have “push” and “pull” movements, but they are almost always overhead or in front of the body (both in a position of shoulder flexion).

As a result of this, in addition to having spent too much time on desk patrol, most adults have very limited shoulder extension […] Read more
