4 Pillars of Health – What Is Missing In Your Life?
Are You Balanced?
Another podcast… I know, I know. But this is a good one. If you don’t subscribe to Lewis Howes podcast, The School of Greatness, you should. I always feel motivated and smarter 🤓 when I finish listening to one of his episodes. In this particular episode, they talked about health and how it can be divided into 4 categories. (Keep in mind I’m paraphrasing all of this and may not get it exactly right).
Take a close look at your life? Are you missing any of these? Let’s see…
Nutrition – I’m pretty good on this. I have my days where I eat too much sugar or have a breve but overall I’m right around that 80/20 on nutrition. ✅
Exercise – Definitely my best category out of the 4. I workout 5 times per week and have a balanced program including lifting and some stretching (could use a little more stretching though). ✅
Sleep – I’m much better in this category now than I was 6 months ago. I no longer coach the 5 am classes at the gym and my waking time is the same every day. Sleeping is on point! ✅
Relaxation – 😳 There it is. When do I relax? What do I do outside of the gym outside of running my kids to activities, housework, meal prep…?? I don’t even know. ❎
So there it is. Relaxation. I’m not relaxing, I’m feeling more and more stressed all of the time, putting pressure on myself to work harder and play less. I can’t even remember the last time I went golfing…. anyone want to go? 🏌🏻♀️ So my goal this summer is to find time for myself and do a few things that I enjoy doing. Not because I have to but because I want to and it’s relaxing to me.
What is your missing pillar of health? Is it nutrition? If so, that’s a biggy. Let’s change it now! Is it exercise? Honestly, I think this is the easiest to get on track. Sleep… that can be tough but there are ways to get better at it. Relaxation? Who has time to relax? Make time!
