Blame It On The Rain, Not The Workout
The Blame Game
You might be surprised to hear that people like to blame their lack of results on the gym. It’s true and I hear stuff like this all of the time:
- The workouts are making me bulk up
- The workouts are ineffective
- I’m not losing weight because we don’t lift enough
- I’m not losing weight because we don’t do enough cardio
You get the point. So there are 168 hours in a week and you are spending 2-6 hours each week at CPM. During this small amount of time we are making you bulk up and gain weight? It has nothing to do with what you’ve been eating? I met with someone recently who told me they feel like the workouts are ineffective. I started to dig into their diet. This person said they are eating clean….paleo was the current method of eating for them. They then proceeded to tell me that they were thinking about cutting grains out of their diet. Hmm… if you are eating grains, you aren’t eating paleo! They obviously are not being honest with me or with themselves.
But my point is that they want to blame the workouts. Is the fact that they drink alcohol every night to blame? No! How about the fact that they are eating chips and salsa every night? Or ice cream? No and no! Friends, it’s not the workouts! The workouts are effective. In fact, exercise is effective. You could do a very wide variety of exercises and see results IF you are watching your diet. That doesn’t mean you need to eat only 1000 calories a day (I would die). It means you need to eat clean and make sure you are eating the right amount of fat/carbs/protein.
So if you are struggling, talk to us. We want to help. That is what makes CPM different. We hold you accountable. We don’t want you holding a membership that you never use. Meet with a coach, use us as a resource but be honest with yourself and us. Are you struggling to eat clean? That’s fine! We all struggle from time to time. Let’s get you on a plan to hit the 80/20 rule. 80% of meals are clean / 20% are not-so-clean. It’s a great way to live.
Have a great weekend CPM friends!
