Coaches Spotlight… Reed Reuman (aka Thor)

Coaches Spotlight… Reed Reuman (aka Thor)

The Best Coach is a Great Student. The first question Annie and I ask ourselves in adding a Coach to our staff at CPMFITness is, “Are they a ROCKSTAR human being?” I can’t say enough great things about Reed; he cares about people, he practices what he preaches, he is fun to be around and he only wants to excel in what he finds important in his life.

Introduce yourself (who is Reed Reuman) and how long you have been with us?

I was born and raised on a farm in rural central South Dakota. From there I went on the Play […] Read more

CPM AF (as fit) Manifesto – 2019 Mantra

CPM AF (as fit) Manifesto – 2019 Mantra

“There is NO finish line with your FITness.”

New Years Resolutions are tried and proven to fail (LINK) It’s easy to get motivated. But what happens after…

Take that free class or 30 day trial?
The diets and weight loss challenges
You get that pull-up(s) or run that 10k
You get more flexible and the back pain goes away.

“Commitment is doing the thing you said you were going to do, long after the mood you said it in has left you.”

How do you stay ‘motivated’ for the rest of your life? What the secret sauce?

Sure it takes; courage, potential, motivation. And yes commitment, discipline, character, follow […] Read more

Setting Goals

Setting Goals

Time to say goodbye to 2018. While I don’t particularly enjoy time flying by, I do like the start of a new year. It’s fun to think about what I want to change or improve. I’ve never been one to set resolutions but setting goals is my thing. (I know, goals and resolutions could be considered the same thing but….)

Last year, I spent a lot of time on weightlifting. I PR’d almost every lift and it felt amazing. This year, I’m switching it up. I’m setting 2 goals:

Goal #1: Improve my ladder sprints. I’ve never been a sprinter and am […] Read more

My Christmas List

My Christmas List

What’s on your holiday wish list? Steve and I don’t buy each other much for Christmas but I do like to get a couple new items each year. So here’s my Christmas list…yes, it’s fitness items. That’s my job!

Nike Metcons – Hands down my favorite cross trainer. I can easily run a mile in them, they are flat for lifting and they are super comfy. Only weird thing is that they squeak when I walk 🤷🏻‍♀️
Red Tights – Ok, I already bought these and I’m wearing them. Whoops! I’ve been looking for red tights for what seems like a long […] Read more

It can be hard to find gifts for everyone on your list, but it’s definitely a lot simpler when you have these trusty go to’s. The following list includes affordable items that will make your love one healthy and happy.

Here are my top 5 Fit Chic Picks for 2018
Jump Rope – It is the perfect gift that will keep on giving. It is a great workout tool that doesn’t take up a lot of space but gives […] Read more

Memories of a Rowing Challenge Past

Memories of a Rowing Challenge Past

Watching CPM members participate in the rowing challenge this year brings me back to 2013. It was my first year at CPM and in your first year at a new gym you participate in EVERYTHING! Rowing challenge? Bring it on! 50,000 OR 100,000 OR 200,000 meters? 200,000 of course! Coming from years of long distance running, I figured sitting on a rower for hours on end was going to be no big deal.

Rowing the meters (even for the 200,000) isn’t that bad as long as you show up early for class and stay late. No time for chit chat unless […] Read more

Competition Rundown

Competition Rundown

Hallow Hopper

This past weekend several of us from CPM traveled to Omaha for a Saturday competition at a super cool gym called Fit Farm. Court and Lisa were participating in the women’s RX division, Reed and Cory in the men’s RX division and Steve and Dave in the men’s scaled division.

I’ll start by saying that I’ve never been so happy to be watching a competition in my life. It was called the Hallow Hopper because they were pulling the workout options out of a hopper to decide the events. This caused a lot of repeats in movements like squatting […] Read more

The Power of a Heavy Power Clean

The Power of a Heavy Power Clean

Testing Your Limits with the Power Clean

On Tuesday this week, the workout format was a little different than normal. Following our power clean build-up, we completed 10 rounds of 1 power clean every 30 seconds. It was only 5 minutes but what happened during that 5 minutes was interesting.

I “borrowed” this workout from a football player that lifted in my gym this summer. While he was doing the same format of the workout, he actually had to do this for 10 minutes and his power clean weight was about 90% of his max. I wrote this for only 10 reps […] Read more

Is Real Fitness like Raising Real Kids?

Is Real Fitness like Raising Real Kids?

This new parent world is pretty incredible. (I know you parents told me so) The whole process has been a game-changer and fundamental shift in my identity

When change in life comes your way there are opportunities available to take advantage of. Being in the hospital and watching how doctors 👨‍⚕️and nurses 👩🏼‍⚕️have helped heal up our little guys can’t help but make me translate the struggles and successes we’ve faced with our stay at the NICU over to the FITness and gym life. I’ve come up with the question, “Is building True FITness like raising Real Kids?”

Getting FIT is a […] Read more

Parenting Advice to Chris and Annie, From The Nooners

Parenting Advice to Chris and Annie, From The Nooners

Your Life is Over But It Has Just Begun

I thought it would be fun to ask some of the CPM regulars for a bit of parenting advice for Chris and Annie. Here is everything you need to know to be the best parents to your new baby boys. Congratulations!

Always trust your gut. Always. If something doesn’t feel right, it probably isn’t. You’ll be the boys’ best advocates. ~ Bri

Laugh. Be their best friend and advocate. Give them both roots to build strength from but wings to fly on their own. And always send funny parenting snaps to […] Read more

CPM – Adult Recess Manifesto

CPM – Adult Recess Manifesto

“We need to think like a kid more and act like an adult a little less:-)”

When a prospect is interested in CPMFITness. They want to know what makes us unique or different from other gyms around town. So I hit on all the obvious features and benefits:

Great Coaches who care and are congruent with the message.
Awesome workouts that are different, effective and challenging.
Our leadership. We learn, evolve and are always seeking the path of excellence; physically, mentally and emotionally.

But what is our secret weapon??

Most gyms would say ‘community’. But that is such a over exploited term now-a-days that it doesn’t […] Read more

The Little Ones Are Listening

The Little Ones Are Listening

Be careful with your words

The Whole Life Challenge really has me thinking.

I didn’t want to do this challenge. I’ve done it before and I’m in a good place with my eating and exercising. Chris can be convincing so here I am doing it anyway! I can say that I’m glad I signed up. Helping my CPM friends has been great so far and I don’t regret it.

But as I’ve been reading some of the daily reflections, I’m concerned by how hard people are on themselves. Which then makes me wonder what sort of words they use at home. Our […] Read more

What Is The Real Challenge?

What Is The Real Challenge?

Whole Life Challenge

The challenge starts this Saturday and I’ve been thinking a lot about the real challenge with the WLC. Is it the exercise, nutrition, mobility, sleep? Lisa, Courtney and I are leading a small group of women through this challenge. There has already been a lot of discussion within the group about meal prep. So I’m going to guess that the real challenge is going to be….

NUTRITION!

It’s no surprise that we struggle to eat healthy. Halloween candy is out and pumpkin lattes are everywhere. The other night I drove to Montrose for a football game after school then I […] Read more

#1 Larabar or RX Bar – When you are running to the gym sometimes you need a little pick me up before your workout. This is the perfect snack to have to get you pumped and ready to crush it! Or if you are famished after you can have a little snack to keep you alive.

Bmamba’s Fridge Essentials

Bmamba’s Fridge Essentials

The timing of this post is perfect because my refrigerator still smells new and surprisingly still clean following the summer months.

The kitchen is the public face of the home. Yet the act of opening the fridge is a very intimating one that reveals some of our most private pleasures, desires and aspirations. I like to call mine my medicine cabinet!

Stocking my refrigerator with ready-to-eat produce that I have prepped ahead of time gets my family to eat more fruits and veggies. It’s easy to grab some baby carrots and snap peas for a quick snack and can save you time […] Read more

My Top 5 Favorite Moments at CPM

My Top 5 Favorite Moments at CPM

I have many many fond memories of my time at CPM. A few always stand out in my mind though.

Let’s do a countdown…

5️⃣ Where’s The Beef? – Never will I ever forget the time that Bort showed up with his son’s shirt instead of his own. And to top it off, it said “Where’s The Beef.” Let’s just say Bort looks good in a crop top! 🤣
4️⃣ Face Mask – A young adult shows up to class with an oxygen deprivation mask. Talk about an awkward class and a heavy breather! Chris made him take off the mask 😳

My CPM Top 5

My CPM Top 5

Beyond the clinking of the weights 🏋🏻‍♂️, the fan of the rowers and the beat of the music 🎶 there have been a few gym memories that just won’t fade.

#1  – How old is Chris? 🤔

When I first was introduced to CPM, I was under the impression that Annie had married a much older man. I thought Chris was in his 50’s!! That was a big surprise when we met for the first time. 🤣

#2 – Whole 30 Challenge (Oct 2014)

This was a game changer for me. I thought my diet was pretty balanced⚖️at the time. I went into the challenge […] Read more

Top 5 Memories… In the Last 5 Years

Its amazing when you stop for a moment and reflect all that has happened in the last 5 years with CPMFITness. Annie and I loved Sioux Falls enough come all the way from California AGAIN with just a dream of what could be. Leading up to Saturday’s 5 year anniversary party (and Diaper Keg) I wanted to rally off some of my favorite moments in the last 5 years. This was tough I really went with what can you mind right away

It’s That Time Of Year… The Crossfit Games Are Here!

It’s That Time Of Year… The Crossfit Games Are Here!

I am SO excited. The Crossfit Games start this week and we are headed to Wisconsin to watch. Events started yesterday and included a Crossfit total (❤️❤️❤️) and a marathon row (🤢🤢🤢). Can you imagine rowing a marathon? They are saving some spectacular events for the weekend I’m sure. Can’t wait!

Here is my list of things I must do while at the Games.

➡️ Check out the vendors. Born Primitive, Fleo, Rogue, Reebok and so many other cool vendors will have booths at the games. I’ve been holding off on buying new clothing over the past 2 months just so I […] Read more

Can’t Hardly Wait

Can’t Hardly Wait

The last few weeks of summer😎 are here. I have enjoyed the extra time with my kids. They make my heart❤ happy. We have had a summer packed full of activities with lots of new memories made. I have enjoyed the warm weather, the longer days and the outdoor time but I think I am ready for school to start. Why?

Disrupted routines. My kids are staying up later, eating more unhealthy snacks and spending way too much of their downtime on devices 📱. They seem to have forgotten which day of the week it is📆, how to flush a toilet […] Read more
