Christmas Treats?

I have a confession. I love Christmas treats!🙋🏽🍪😬 I am not talking about the low fat, Paleo or Keto kind. I am talking about the real deal. The ones filled with real sugar and butter; the ones that most nutrition experts would tell you to avoid.

Life is not always about eating good foods and avoiding the bad ones. There is no special trophy🏆for being 100% compliant. Food can mean a lot of different things to people. It can be used for fuel, as a reward/punishment or a way to connect with people i.e. Food can also tell a story 📖. It can provide us information on what shapes our wellbeing and our life’s purpose.

This information leads to choices. Each decision we make has a consequence, good or bad🙅🏾. It’s our choice to decide what we feel is important to us in that moment.

So with the holidays here, ask yourself what matters to you now?

For me it’s connecting with family and friends and maintaining family traditions. It’s about blaring Christmas music 🎶🎶 on a Saturday afternoon and baking with my kids. It’s about indulging in my dad’s mouth-watering fudge😋 and decorating sugar cookies with the cousins.

All these things are done mindfully but with a lot of JOY!😍

Don’t get distracted by guilt or regret. Slow down if possible. Savor the moments and choose with a purpose…even if that means nutrition has to take the backseat for a second.
