Dear Mother Plucker… My Friend Wants to Try The Gym But They Are Scared!

So your friend is scared. Why is that? Could it be the ripped hands that we proudly like to display, the sore muscles that we love to complain about or perhaps the insane rep count that we share with our friends? “Oh my gosh, I did 100 pull-ups today!” Of course your friend is scared! I would be too. (True story… Becky aka Babs used to tell me the 100 pull-up story a lot)

So how do you convince them to give CPM a try? First of all, let’s get real. The workout written on the board isn’t making you sore. The way you attack the workout makes you sore. I could go lighter, slower or do a completely different movement every day. I’m in charge of myself and I don’t have to do anything. Very rarely do my hands rip anymore. Why? Because I know when to stop and I don’t want to have ripped hands!

We like to meet with your friend before they walk into a class. Do they have physical limitations or injuries? We want to know. Have they been working out or is this the first workout in months? Also, good to know. So we meet with them, get some history and run them through a little baseline workout. From there we can determine how much prep they need before jumping into their first CPM workout. You don’t want your friend to be scared or get hurt and neither do we. Or wait…. do you want them to be scared??? RICHARD!

The CPM workouts are good for you both physically and mentally. Share this with your friends not the ripped hands! Tell them that it’s a mood booster, that you’ve made new friends (FIT friends) and that you make better choices every day because you chose to go to the gym instead of choosing to sit on the couch and eat chips. We only get one body, we want to treat it right. And we want our friends to do the same so we have someone to share this life with for many many years to come!

By the way – Babs and I need some Friday dress ideas. Any suggestions? Chris said Catholic school girls, I said no. I think tomorrow is polka dots! Yay!
