Headed to the Games!

I’m Pretty Excited…

to be headed to the Crossfit Games in Madison, Wisconsin this weekend. If you’ve never watched the games, you should really try to catch some of the action this year. All of the movements we do at CPM are taken to the extreme in their workouts. The Crossfit Games have turned into a serious competition full of amazing athletes, sponsorships, big cash prizes and intense workouts. The events start Thursday, August 3rd and end Sunday, August 6th. We are leaving Thursday afternoon to ensure that we will be able to watch the Friday morning action.

If you are curious, here are some of the first events:

Thursday – Run, Swim, Run; Bike Event

Friday – Sprint Obstacle Course; 1 RM Snatch; Triple G Chipper (pull-ups, GHD sit-ups, pistols, row, dumbbell push presses)

Just to give you an idea of the intensity of these workouts, the dumbbell push press weight is 100 lb dumbbell for men and 70 lb dumbbell for women ? ? ?

The dedication of the athletes is really impressive. Their diets, workouts and sleep habits are all fine-tuned to make sure they are in top shape. To complete one WOD like this would be tough but to do more than one each day for 4 days in a row?? WOW! I can’t wait to see the athletes and competitions in person. I have this funny feeling I might be taller than most of the men ?

I hope to have pics and fun stories for you next week. Who knows, maybe by then I will have Courtney convinced to train for the games next year ?
