I Like To Introduce Our Newest Yoga Instructor ….

If you have been to a Thursday yoga class recently, you may have been taught by our newest instructor Brandi AKA Bstar.

I feel so blessed to have such an inspired, professional, passionate individual teaching for CPM. Her dedication and commitment to always grow in the CPM classes and her yoga practice makes her classes ones you won’t want to miss.

Welcome to the team Ms. B Star.

CPM is definitely a better place with you here.

Get to know Brandi a little more here ….

Fitness for me in the past was running, putting in as many miles as I could, until one day I realized I really didn’t like running at all. I heard about CPM after a couple friends convinced my boyfriend, Blake, to try it out. Once he was hooked, it was all I heard about.

After a few months of him being on my case constantly about coming to CPM and convincing me that I would be able to survive the work outs, I finally gave CPM a shot, or rather skeptically drug there by him. My background in fitness never involved weights of any sort or really any movements aside from running and the occasional soup can to Jillian Michaels, so you can imagine my surprise walking into CPM for the first time and being told we were doing the “Bear Complex”. For starters, I had absolutely no idea what that even meant but then also being handed a bar bell and told to add some weight; I knew I was in for a real treat. Somehow I survived the work out! Not only did I survive, I became motivated in a way I never knew from years of running. I was challenged in a completely different aspect of fitness which was terrifying but exciting to me so before I knew it, I was hooked.
I joined CPM April of last year, not only did I take a huge leap into a whole new world of fitness, but I signed up for the Whole 30 at the same time. Talk about a change! Struggling with digestion issues my whole life and being lactose intolerant and gluten free, I thought I had the whole nutrition thing down, but was I wrong! For those of you that haven’t done the Whole 30, I highly recommend it. It truly tests your will power and will seriously change your life.

CPM has truly opened my eyes in so many ways. It has changed how I look at fitness, nutrition, and the definition of truly being “sore”. It’s introduced me to something I never thought I would try, let alone love, and begin to teach, yoga. Shortly after I joined I began to have shoulder problems from my job. I work at Sanford doing high risk OB/GYN ultrasounds, so lots of repetitive movements therefore increased work related injuries. A few of my coworkers have undergone different therapies with some having to change occupations due to pain. Being only 25 and already having shoulder problems freaked me out, to say the least. Luckily, Annie came to my rescue and convinced me to start doing yoga, and for that, I am truly grateful, as is my shoulder. I went from the girl that literally couldn’t touch her toes to being able to do poses I never thought possible.

So, for those of you that think you are not flexible enough for yoga, trust me I use to be one, yoga is exactly where you should be. It will literally change not only your body, but improve your workouts, and other everyday activities. Trust me; I still have a long way to go in my yoga practice for those of you that have not seen my standing splits, but it is empowering every step that I get closer to my goals and even more empowering witnessing others approach theirs. This has led me to the amazing opportunity I was given to become a CPM yoga instructor. Nothing is more empowering than being able to help in the process of bettering someone’s life, whether it be big or small, which is exactly why I love teaching yoga.

My goal is to become the type of yoga instructor that can push people past their comfort levels. Challenging their mind, body, and soul to new places and help in overcoming obstacles to approach and meet their goals, whether they are big or small, all while maintaining the love for yoga. That being said, I have a large goal to obtain and maintain and I could not do that without CPM and the amazing people that make up this “family”. I hope to grow with everyone as an instructor and be given the privilege to guide everybody through their own practice to reap the benefits of yoga which I have grown to love and make part of my life. “If it doesn’t challenge you, it doesn’t change you.”
