Kids Back in School = Parents Back in Shape

It’s True.

It’s really hard to describe the affect summer can have on parents. I’m not making excuses for my lack of meal prepping, lack of sleep, lack of motivation to do things other than vacationing, boating and enjoying summer BUT summer is killer on the waistline. How can I be in the worst shape of the year during the months that I’m spending my weekends in a bikini??? 👙

So school starts Monday, August 21st and I think I’m ready. I always get a little anxiety this time of year. Did we spend enough time with the kids this summer? Should we have taken another vacation? Macy wanted to go to Valley Fair but we never got there. Poor Macy! She is definitely neglected. Do we have school supplies? Wait… when is football practice? And basketball practice is already starting too? That doesn’t seem right. But I will get my calendar in order and set a plan.

Now, it’s time to put a plan into action for ME 🤗  Meal prepping will be much easier since we won’t be at the lake. Not to mention that fact that I’m not faced with brownies, cookies, scotcharoo bars, homemade donuts, kettlecorn and pie at the lake. That’s not an exaggeration either 😳  So here’s my plan:

  1. Sunday meal prep. This should be easier now that I’ve started doing overnight oats for my lunches.
  2. Early bedtime. Much easier to do when we aren’t having multiple sleepovers each week and it doesn’t stay light so late at night. By late, I mean after 9 pm 😉
  3. Lifting program. Steve had a successful experience with an RP lifting template a few months ago so I’ve decided to give it a try myself. I’ll have some extra time to lift in the afternoon with school starting.
  4. Nutrition challenge. You know we’ve got one coming😃  And I need it BAD! I’m looking forward to kickstarting my healthy eating with a good challenge!
