Like Nick, Annie and I have known Sarah, aka the Muscle, for quite sometime. oldschoolMuscle2She embodies the heart of a champion and she is really nice too:). She has all the common excuses someone could use to stop them from achieving their Health and Fitness goals; FULL Time career, spouse who travels out of town frequently, 2 young active girls and all the responsibilities you could think of… but she doesn’t let that get in the way. She is tough as nails and as friendly as they come. Anytime you are fortunate enough to attend class with her you will find she is always while to help, encourage and support others around her.

Let’s get to know Sarah, ahhh the Muscle, a little more…

When did you first start training at CPMFITness?
I started with CPM in August 2013, the first day they opened.

Tell about your sports/FITness background:
Thru out my high school career I played some basketball but mainly ran to stay in shape. In my twenties I would be running/ elliptical (cardio) up to 13 miles per day. Sometime going to the gym twice to get that may miles in. It became more of a daunting task. I was encouraged by a trainer to start lifting some weights (which I have never done before) instead of doing so much cardio. It was a great stress release & loved how it made me feel. I then moved on to Crossfit back in July 2009. I feel in love! Once CPMfitness opened I transitioned over and have been doing that since.

Take us back to your first CPM workout… What was it? How did it fee?
Honestly I can’t remember my first work out. All I know is that I always walk out feeling accomplished. It is the best start to my day! It makes me a better mother, wife, friend and co-worker.

What sort of changes have you seen in your body, health and FITness since starting CPM (before/after)?
The changes I have seen have been quite crazy. Over the years of doing these high intensity work outs I have leaned up and put on muscle. I look at my work outs different. They are not all about beating the clock but doing the movement efficiently and perfecting them. I used to be more competitive..always trying to chase down the person ahead of me but now I am all about focusing on getting a good workout for me and not focusing on the other person. Going through the coaches training course (CDA) definitely gave me a different perspective on that.

What sort of change in your life have you experienced out of taking on something like CPM that were totally unexpected?
One thing I never expected was to be a positive influence on my husband, daughters, sister, friends, co-workers and even my boss. They ask me what they should do for nutrition and workouts. As I am constantly learning so are they. I am always willing to help and share my knowledge. I feel great & I want everyone to feel they way I do.

Please share with us any favorite CPM moments:
I have really gotten to know some great people thru the years and now call them friends & not just acquaintances. Sharing the sense of community is the greatest!

Any advice for people just getting started?
Stay focused and stick with it. If your mind is strong and willing so is your body!

What are your hobbies, interests and/or talents outside of CPM?
Other past times for me are spending time with my family, going to movies, walking with friends and I also love to bake! Cookies are my favorite.
