What Is It About A Partner That Makes You Work Harder?
I decided not to blog about Christmas this week. I’ve done enough shopping, eating and stressing… I’m over it! Instead I wanted to write about partner workouts. We had a few this week and I found myself getting really excited about them more so than the others. Why is that?
Partner workouts make me work harder, no doubt about it. Especially on days when I’m feeling sluggish or tired, my partner always perks me up. I would guess I do about 25% more work than I would flying solo. On the partner rowing workout (500m each for 25 minutes), I pushed myself so hard that I thought I might be sick…. thanks Court ;-)! But seriously, that rarely happens to me! I, personally, seek out the partner workouts because I enjoy them the most. I would recommend you always go on a partner day. It will be worth your time.
I really notice the power of partners when coaching. We try to strategically partner people up during class. There’s a reason you are with someone super fast or intense… or maybe you have a partner that tends to be slower and we need YOU to get them fired up! Regardless of the reason, don’t be nervous about having a partner. Everyone at CPM is there to have fun and most importantly get a good workout. Be positive, work hard and have fun. That’s all you need to do!
