A Gym Membership – Is It Worth It?

I’m pretty sure all of us have thought about whether or not a gym membership is worth the money. I know I have. I’m really picky about spending money on some things. For instance, a new razor (yes, I do shave my legs) but they are super expensive and that bugs the heck out of me. So I never want to spend the money on them. But a new pair of workout tights that cost 5 times as much? Sure, I’ll drop some money for those.

A gym membership can be spendy. Let’s see…what could I do instead? I could run outside, lift at home, maybe go to a globo-gym and use their equipment. But it’s never the same. I spent 15 years running on my own. Could I push myself to run? Absolutely. Did I ever think about doing push-ups, squats and sit-ups after the run? Yes but did I do them? Heck no. I NEEDED someone to push me to do those things and, therefore, I was lacking upper body strength and many general physical fitness skills.

Back to the money. I’m balancing my checkbook, paying bills and it’s no big deal for me to pay my $120 DISH Network bill and then I have Netflix, that one is cheap. Oh, and I just got unlimited spray tanning at Sun Tan City. But that gym membership costs too much? I don’t think so. You can’t put a price on health. Without your health, what do you have? People think they can’t afford a gym membership when really (unless they are one of the few that can self-motivate) they can’t afford to NOT have a gym membership. Do I hope my kids watch awesome tv shows, have good internet access and nice spray tans when they are older? I could care less. But I do hope they are members at a great gym that motivates them to work hard and eat healthy! I really, really want that for them.

So a huge thanks to all of our CPM members who know their health is worth every penny!
