Dictionary.com defines ACCOUNTABILITY as…

the fact of condition of being accountable; responsibility.

You could also google “ACCOUNTABILITY” and find it as “Personal ACCOUNTABILITY”

is the belief that you are fully responsible for your own actions and consequences. It’s a choice, a mindset and an expression of integrity.

In the FITness game ACCOUNTABILITY is everything. It is on the top of everyone’s mind I sit down with.

It is the 1st thing they want. NOT… (Weight loss, Strength Gain, more Energy, Flexibility, etc)… I believe people now know that all their goals will happen when they hold themselves more ACCOUNTABLE.

So are we not responsible? Because ACCOUNTABILITY = Responsibility.

We are responsible. The problem is we already have TONS of responsibility in our lives; Family, kids, career, friends, hobbies, etc… We have too much responsibility. How are you able to fit FITness into your long list of ‘responsibilities’ to hold yourself accountable?

We at CPMFITness, believe you CAN and you WILL when you add these 3 ingredients to ACCOUNTABILITY.

#1. ACCOUNTABILITY Needs Action

We are short on action. You see, we (at CPMFITness) don’t compete on knowledge. Not anymore.

Knowledge is cheap. Knowledge is everywhere. If I want to find a workout or diet plan, you can. It’s so easy that it’s boring.

Luckily, no exercise routines or diets work without action. That’s where we come in, we coach. We sell ACTION.

#2. ACCOUNTABILITY Needs Decision

Indecision is the thief of results. To be ACCOUNTABLE i.e. responsible you need to make a decision to take action. As a Coach, people want me to make decisions for them. Because they already make too many—what to wear, what to say to the boss, what to put in that expense report. They don’t want to decide how to scale the workout appropriately; they want me to tell them.

#3. ACCOUNTABILITY Needs Perspective

Remember the definition of Personal ACCOUNTABILITY in the beginning of this post….

is the belief that you are fully responsible for your own actions and consequences. It’s a choice, a mindset and an expression of integrity.

They say in the coaching world that the worst program you do is the one you write for yourself.

Why do you think that is? It’s a 3 letter word… E-G-O. It always gets in the way. It happens to me personally. We have to get out of our own head and allow some else to steer the ship. We need an outside set of eyes watching, guiding and supporting us on our journey. We are subjective about our thoughts and feelings. We can’t help it we are humans. A coach will provide the objectivity you need to ultimately hold yourself accountable.

It’s been a wild and fun year of FITness for all of us here at CPM. We are grateful for each and everyone of you in our lives.

Happy New Year Everyone!
