Introducing CPMFITness’s Club: The 200 Club

200 Club at CPM Fitness in Sioux Falls

Not everyone who joins CPM has a competitive spirit . . . but many certainly do. That competitiveness is always rooted in good fun and camaraderie, which is how members at our Sioux Falls gym now have a new milestone to aim for — the 200 Club!

The Story of the 200 Club

In the summer of 2020, member Aaron (Ace) Ellingsen was — as usual — keeping track of his numbers (likely due to the nature of his profession as a financial advisor.) These stats included the following:

  • How many sessions have I done this year? (137 at that time)
  • Who has more sessions completed than I do? (Molly Johnson was at 199)
  • Who has the most sessions completed this year? (Molly)

On August 26, 2020, after Ace finished his workout and added up his numbers, member Alex Pearson was also in the gym. CPM owner Chris and coach Chelsey realized that Alex was just ten workouts behind Ace at 127 so far for the year.

They had an idea.

How funny would it be if Alex — unbeknownst to Ace — began to double up his daily workouts in order to beat Ace’s total at the end of the year?

After all, Ace was set on hitting 200 workouts for the year as Chris had encouraged him to aim for that benchmark.

The group teamed up to plot out Alex’s schedule, how many sessions he’d be able to do with his work schedule, and which days he was available to double up. All of this was going on without Ace’s knowledge.

So, that’s how Alex got the nickname Deuce; he started completing double workouts. Over the few weeks and months, he was gaining on Ace’s count. The excitement started brewing and word was spreading around the gym. Other members were noticing and asking questions. We informed everyone individually and let them know not to spread the word that Deuce was going to beat Ace’s 200 sessions.

By the end of the year, everyone in the gym knew that Deuce was not only going to accomplish 200 workouts, but he’d get more sessions in than Ace. Everyone except Ace, of course.

Finally, the day arrived for the truth to come out. As Ace celebrated his 205 workouts (which is amazing!), he got another surprise — Deuce’s announcement of ending the year at 206 workouts.

[How did Ace find out?? What was his reaction??]

In addition to his 206 workouts, Deuce also set two all-time CPM 9-day records:
  • 69 session from October 1st to December 31st
  • 57 sessions in 61 days (November 1st to December 31st)

You Can Join the 200 Club, Too!

Thus began the 200 Club at CPMFitness!

Deuce was so excited by his and Ace’s accomplishments that he purchased fifty 200 Club t-shirts and donated them to the gym for others to earn.

So, from now on, anyone who completes at least 200 group training sessions in one year at CPM will become an official member of the 200 Club and receive a t-shirt to celebrate their achievement!

This is an elite “club” that certainly takes motivation and planning to join, but we believe that any and all member at CPM can reach this goal. If 200 sessions in one year is a benchmark that you’d like to aim for, get with your coach to make a plan. We’re here to help!
