Have you heard the news? After a hiatus, yoga is back at CPM!

Our very own coach Kayla went and got herself yoga certified, which means you can come to the gym at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday mornings for CPM yoga class!

I Don’t Need to Do Yoga . . . Right?

We know that many people write off yoga as an exercise in serious stretching or even just relaxation. While neither of those things are false, yoga offers many benefits that high-intensity athletes (such as our members) should take advantage of.

Here are reasons why you should add a yoga class to your workout regiment.

Improved Flexibility

This is one of the most obvious benefits of yoga. We do a lot of movements in our group classes that can be improved by the increased flexibility that yoga offers. Those include all types of squats (front, back, overhead), cleans, and more.

And, don’t forget about your ankles! Yoga offers specific movements to increase your ankle mobility, which is essential for most of the movements we do in class.

Increased Range of Motion

Yoga puts your joints through their full range of motion, bringing oxygen, blood, and nutrients to your cartilages. This, of course, benefits your lifts in the gym, but also helps prevent chronic pain and arthritis as you age.

Improved Recovery

It sucks to hurt after a tough workout. But, regular yoga practice will help decrease the duration of the soreness you feel after a tough high-intensity workout in the gym.

Wouldn’t it be nice not to hurt so much the next day?!

Improved Performance All Around

So, yeah . . . you should do yoga! This will contribute to you being a more well-rounded CPM athlete and your body will thank you down the road.

We’ll see you at CPM yoga at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday mornings in the Western Mall! Feel free to come even earlier for that 7:30 a.m. Grind, too.
